Break Free from Plastic (#BFFP) is a global movement striving for a world free of plastic pollution. BFFP is linked with The Story of Stuff, a fantastic site with wonderfully simple, devastatingly revealing short cartoon videos or movies about topics such as cosmetics, bottled water and microbeads. As they state, Together, we can build a world focused on “BETTER” instead of “MORE”

#BFFP has several campaigns targeting different aspects of plastic pollution. The latest is ‘False Solutions Exposed’. As part of this campaign, they have a series of five one-hour webinars addressing apparent solutions to plastic pollution and explaining the flaws – or outright deceit – of the processes.

I watched the first two (over breakfast) and found them helpful, if concerning. Those recordings are now available: Greenwashing and solutions financing and Waste burning and advanced recycling. The remaining webinars at 9am Skye-time are:July 5th  Plastic credits and Cement Kiln co-processingJuly 12   Alternatives to Plastics and Impacts on human healthJuly 19   Ecobricks, ocean clean-ups, plastics to roads Register here.
